Feng_Shui_living_room_before
A typical Amsterdam flat with little light (north side) and furniture (from a former apartment) that does not fit the space.
Feng_Shui_living_room_after
A few alterations, a change of colour and lighting changed the space quite dramatically
Feng_Shui_Dining_Room_Before_After
Adding traditional cupboards in a modern version adds rhythm and spaciousness to this traditional Amsterdam ground floor apartment. The dark, heavy curtains have been exchanged with lighter, transparent ones and the colour has been slightly altered from plain white to a beautiful Gustavian blue-grey. The cupboard in the back has been removed for more spaciousness and a calmer overall look
Cluttered_office_turned_into_childrens_room
A former home office / storage turned into a beautiful little girl's room
Office_turned_into_childrens_room_after
What a dramatic change! With a bit of elbow grease the former office and storage space has been thoroughly decluttered, the wallpaper has been taken off and a soft pink paneling has been added all around the room to make the ceiling appear less high.
Hairdresser_salon_before_Feng_Shui
This hairdresser salon is situated in a very challenging spot: in the metro station underground of the busy Waterlooplein in Amsterdam. Four escalators and a staircase point right towards the salon with an open glass front. Neon lights and grey tiles predominate the look of the salon which gives it a somber look. The cash desk faces into the room with the back to the open window - not a very secure position in this rather dodgy area of Amsterdam! This is what we did... (see next picture!)
Hairdresser_Salon_After_Feng_Shui
First of all we turned the cashier around so the person behind the counter faces the store with a solid wall behind his back. We then painted the grey walls with a warm earthy clay paint from Tierrafino to give it a dozier feel. We also added lamps that give a warmer light than the cold neon lights at the ceiling. We also de-cluttered the small space and gave it a minimalistic look
Hairdresser_Salon_Feng_Shui_after
The result is a minimalistic, urban and clutter-free look with a warm ambiance. Since the budget was tight we kept the self-made furniture and de-cluttered unnecessary stuff. The result: a very happy owner (see review on my website) who said that not only does he spend much more time in his salon now but he also gets a lot of great comments from his clientele and people passing by! Mission accomplished :)
